Choose a real health care organization to study. Interview 1 key leader who is involved in the organization's health care delivery. Based on questions asked and answers given, the report will summarize the questions and answers and then present detailed information evaluating the following:

Interdepartmental interaction, communications, team building activities and conflict resolution techniques, ethics and workplace diversity programming, proposed operational changes, and how these changes may impact operations and budgets

I have to write a 10-12 page paper on the above. I need help coming up with 5 solid interview questions for HR and for a healthcare manager, I tried to google for help but it only gives me questions to ask a job seeker vs interviewing a corporation.

Healthcare Systems

Leadership is an important function of every organization that leads to the need for leadership science. Health care organizations experience change on a daily basis. This means that change is inevitable in any given organization and particularly, the health care sector. This is mainly due to the fact that the world is not at equilibrium; everything changes with time and duration from its beginning. Otherwise, there would be no any form of development-the kind that has seen planet earth migrate from point zero to where it is today- a higher point. Change in health care organizations is one thing that cannot be avoided and will always recur largely or in small doses, whether it is the employee turnover at the micro level or the governing policies put at the macro level to see that the organization delivers as expected and to its maximum capacity. Leadership is also bound to change in any given organization. It is the mandate of every leader to ensure that a health care organization has stability (Skloot, 2010).

How does a leader create stability in the health care organization?

To gain stability in Avon Health care center, the leader should ensure that there is a state of equilibrium in the organization. This is a situation where all the influences acting in the organization whether from outside or inside the organization is cancelled. This cancellation is done by others in the organization and will most certainly lead to a balanced, stable and unchanging system. A leader also creates stability by applying physics in the health care organization, a system condition in which all the forces in the organization that are acting are equaled. Thirdly, a leader, to ensure stability in the organization should have a good and sound poise. This means that the leader should be emotionally and mentally balanced, ready to tackle any issue that might come unexpectedly. However, an equilibrium state in any organization is not always desirable; this means that the organization does not go through any changes that may probe it to develop and instead failure checks in. A leader should as a result take it upon them to accommodate and tackle changes as they come along. This gives way to development in the healthcare organization (Sullivan, 2008).

To create stability in the organization, a leader should keep in mind that all systems in the organization which are living grow and evolve because of their continuous interaction with the environment. A negative or regulatory feedback also needs to be put in place to ensure that all systems are on track and are pointing towards the right direction which is achievement of the set goals. Amplifying or positive feedback also needs to be considered. This will ensure that the system is updated over time. As the new leader aligns themselves with the new environment, they should carefully consider what changes should be adapted and those that ought to be ignored to ensure stability in the health care organization (Wheatley, 2006).

First week structure in an organization

Organizations that are poorly led are normally demoralized. Good leadership is critical for any given organization that wishes to flourish. A poor leader is not able to accommodate any changes in the organization at any given stage and this has a negative impact. During the first week, the new leader is supposed to master the structure of the organization as it is to have a clear view of the organization. This will enable them to have a sense of direction as they take on the leadership role in the organization. They will also know who they are answerable to and who to consult when need arises. They should also have self –reference. This is where they need to understand the makeup of the organization to find a way forward when it comes to omissions and additions that are to be put in place in future. Secondly, during the first week, the leader should understand what the organization does, its objectives, short term and long term goals, its missions and visions. This way, they already have guidelines on what changes ought to be made for growth to take place. The new leader should also consider keenly the changes that are already in place and adapt to those that are helpful ignoring those that are not. It is during this week that they should also learn their way through the organization, the present employees, and the organizational culture to prepare for future changes (Hethcock, 2011). Most importantly, it is during this week that the new leader should know what the previous leader did wrong or right and make changes (Steven, 2013).

Are hospitals self-organizing systems?

Hospitals are self-organizing systems because they get stable as changes come by and time passes. For example, if there is a new outbreak of diseases in the country, Avon Health care center should adapt to new methods of treatment and medication to be able to cure. Change in the hospital organization does not necessarily implicate a complicated issue; even very small changes can make a change in the organization, a point in science known as the bifurcation point. They also undergo co-evolution; a process where the systems created poses changes in the environment which in turn poses changes to the systems put in place (Wheatley, 2006).

Good leadership is crucial for Avon Health care center. It is good leadership that can adapt changes in the organization and still make the organization stable resulting in its growth. A leader should be keen enough to fasten himself or herself with the right skills to do the correct thing at all times in their entire time of leadership in any healthcare organization.

Ethical dilemma

Avon Health care center systems play a very critical role in a society. Through it, people get health services; an important aspect in the country’s well being.

Standardization of processes in Avon Health care centerwill improve quality while at the same time reducing errors. Use of technological services will be of great help to the healthcare systems. Such systems deal with huge amounts of data that must be of use to facilitate its operations. Therefore, good technology will reduce errors and improve efficiency. Quality data storage makes sure that the organization can really prove the exact events and transactions, helps in setting standards and goals, act as an evaluation tool to know if something need change or replacement and allows the company to compare its performance with other competing firms in terms of service delivery and transparency.

The Institute of Medicine’s report (1999) suggests the implementation of patient safety programs. This means that culture, procedures, and measurements must be reversed to suit the patient needs. The healthcare system has to use this in order to bring transparency in its operation. With this, patients and other customers can willingly table their suggestions, concerns and observations that can be of help to the organizational functioning. Culture relies on the leadership. As the CEO, I have to incorporate it into the system. This will in return improve on patient care, service delivery, and safety.

Research findings show that most of the patients receive unsatisfactory services (Brennan, N. et al., 2009). Avon Health care centersystem has to be reformed in order to satisfy them. By reforming the system, most patients will afford the health services, there will be an improvement in quality and common complication in patients can be brought under control.

Standardizing processes require a high level of technology. This means that a lot of money must be used to purchase the necessary equipment. This may be very difficult because of the limited budgets allocated each year. While accepting the fact that it will reduce errors, it is not safe because the information, which is very confidential, may leak out to other people who may hack the system. It may be very difficult to realize any change in data until it is very late. In addition, most people will lose their jobs because the technology will replace their spaces.

People are very rigid to change. While such changes may be of benefit to the organization and a portion of the society, other people from different regions may fall victims of culture change. This is because it may affect their way of thinking, service delivery and general overview of the organizational functioning. This may in turn slow down the smooth running of the healthcare system.

Health reforms are a debate in most countries. This is because they have brought with them an underutilization of resources. In addition, reforms slow down the essential part of the healthcare system, which is service delivery and growth. This poses a challenge in that a single change in reforms require a change in all other units to make it effective.

Each time a new invention arises, there comes many challenges apart from its main objective. The healthcare system need to standardize its operations, undergo reforms, and start patient safety program. However, the difficulties make the changes slowly.

Harms associated with stakeholder’s ethical dilemma are derived for the situations that prevail in their daily undertaking. For instance, how to approach to issues and concerns, stepping up in thinking situation, problem solving, decision making, action planning, action taking, and examining what works.

Nurses find themselves in dilemma when they are not in a position to choose the best advice for their clients. In making ethical issues, nurses should choose the rightful decision basing on their work accord.

Harms can found are improper prescription, negligence, patient harassment. The stakeholder is the one who caused the ethical issue since he did not follow the correct procedures in prescribing the patients medication.

The nurses should consider the rights for the clients and consider their own values. Some factors that may inhibit one’s ability t consider one’s choice, for instance expectations that the society prefers and cultural values. Apart from these, commitment degrees and insufficient time and inexperience also affect actions in ethics dilemma. The law is very critical in ethical issues in nursing and the loyal conflicts to the law (Shelly, 1980).

For instance, the decision to instigate whistle blowers can be good as well as bad to the stakeholders. One can lose job upon learning that he or she acted unethically. On the other hand, whistle blowing ensures that institutions adhere to the codes of ethics, failure to which legal actions are taken against the accused upon evidence provision.

The decision I will make will be to make it mandatory for nurses to follow these codes of ethics and the required principles. In this field, the nurses have found themselves in dilemma in the actions they can take. The dilemmas, thus gives out steps the nurses should follow to satisfy their client’s requests. In nursing therefore, there is little or no emphasis given to the experience on their operation.

The decision will be accepted by the organization as well as the stakeholders since the codes are all for the betterment of one’s wellbeing. The decision will help avoid and prevalent ethical dilemmas that the organization experiences. The decision ought to become a norm. This owes to the rule that whoever is found to have caused harm due to negligence of the codes of ethics will face legal actions.

Progressively, the person responsible in making decisions should be analyzed. The nurse should choose the action without causing harm to the patient. The nurse should later choose the final choice of doing any action. The chosen choice should be in position to give out a positive outcome in Avon Health care center.
