Answer #1

question 1:

Dose of Erythromycin ethylsuccinate = 50mg/kg/day in four doses

Weight of toddler =32 lb =14.54 Kg

Dose per day for the child = 14.54 ×50 = 727.27 mg

Each dose will be 727.2/ 4 = 181.8 mg

Dose of the medicine available = 200mg/5ml

Amount of the medicine to be given in each dose =    dose prescribedx Amount in hana dose in hand

                                                       = 181.8x5 200   = 4.54 ml

So the amount to be given for the child is 4.5 ml every 6 hourly

question 3:

Weight of client = 120 lb = 54.54 Kg

Dose of Phenytoin = 15mg/kg/day tds

The dose/ day for the client = 54.54 × 15 = 818.1 mg

Each dose will be 818/3 = 272.7 , Approximately 273 mg

Dose available = 125mg/5ml

How many ml is needed for each dose =    dose prescribedx Amount in hana dose in hand

                                                            = 273x10.9 125

The amount to be administered per dose is 11 ml

question 4:

Weight of infant = 5.5 Kg

Dose of Amoxycillin = 30mg/kg/day in two doses

Dose to be administered to the baby in a day = 5.5 × 30 =    165mg

So each dose will be = 165/2 =82.5 mg

Dose available =125mg/5ml

Amount to be administered = dose prescribedx Amount in hana dose in hand

                                                 =82.5x5 125 = 3.3 ml

The baby has to be given 3.3 ml of the Amoxycillin every 12 hrs.
