in your opinion what is the porpues of university eduction?

I think the Purpose of University education differ from student to student. Certainly, common purposes include acquisition of credentials and/or knowledge. Another purpose that I think might be there is that the student just doesn't know what else to do in life and going to college is "the thing you do" after high school. There are other purposes also.

By the time student reach University, students are typically legal adults. They can teach themselves, they have the skills to identify useful materials, read discuss them with peers and those more knowledgeable than themselves. They don't need University just to learn.

However, the degree they earn from University can be a very useful credential to get job they can't get without that degree.

The opportunity cost is just too high to attend University just for kicks, in my opinion. There are exception, but they ARE exceptions.
