Answer: The benefits of breastfeeding are:

  • It reduces the risk of childhood leukemia.
  • It reduces the non specific gastroenteritis as well as lower respiratory diseases.
  • It also reduces sudden death in infants.
  • It enables the infants to grow and develop.

The socioeconomic fact that would convince the congressman to support the program as there are very less information among women regarding the benefits of these programs and hence it requires uplifting the women status. The women due to lack of nutrients becomes unable to feed their babies.
