Question 3 a) One of the most successful theories of QCD and the electro- weak is the Standard Model. Explain the main structure of this model. In spite to the all the success, people believe that the Standard Model is not complete. What makes us believe the Standard Model is incomplete? b) Compare the_structure of the gauge symmetries (QED, QCD, and Weak interactions) found in particle physics.

(a)

Standard model of Particle Physics is a model to describe basic nature of our nature. It relates fundamental particles with fundamental interaction. Fundamental particle is well classified by standard model and it describe electromagnetic, electroweak and strong interaction very well. After this success it is still incomplete since it cann't involve gravity which is responsible for large structure of our universe. Dark Matter and Dark Energy is still mystery in Physics which is not explained either standard model or any other theory.

(b)

Gauge symmetry is on field and particle i.e. particle can be mentioned in term of field and fields in term of particle. For QED gauge particle is photon. Photon is responsible to carry EM field. For QCD gauge particle is gluon and for weak interaction W, Z boson are gauge particles or force carrier.
