Using the law of cons. of momentum

initial = 0.4kg x 10.0m/s
final = (75 + 0.4)kg x V
► ............... V = 0.4 x 10.0 /75.4 = 0.0557 m/s


B) involves conservation taking account of directions (ans. No 1 hasn't ! )

initial = 0.4 x 10.0 = 4 kgm/s
final = (75kg x V→) + (0.4kg x 7←) = 75V - 2.8

now .. 4 = 75V - 2.8 .............► V = 6.8 /75 = 0.0906 m/s
