Give an example that exemplifies a RECENT format or standard war. What mistakes were made by the incumbent?

Standard war is a competition for market dominance and often survival between two or more producers of a particular type of technology. Standard war often starts when multiple manufacturers create proprietary technologies designed for particular purpose. The most recent standard war was seen between Blu ray and HD DVD. Technological standard like the compact disk or protocol that makes the internet function more smoothier. Sometimes companies that have spent millions for developing new technologies decide to slug it out in the market place. Such fights are called standard war. A familiar recent example for standard war as I stated above is Between Blu ray and HD DVD. The product that consumer expect to win will surely win. Consumers know that if they back the loser in a standard war ,they will be stuck up with obsolete products. So convincing them that their product is the winner is essential.
