A minor arrives in the emergency room (ER) of a local hospital while unconscious. The attending physician suspects the occurrence of an adverse event, such as a possible drug overdose. The ER doctor confirms that the child uses prescription medication prescribed by his primary care physician (PCP). Because the minor’s electronic health record (EHR) is interoperable with the facility’s EHR system, the ER physician is capable of accessing the names of the medications prescribed to the child. Discuss how permitted disclosure of health information in the Health Insurance Portability and Privacy Act (HIPAA) permit the provider to administer the care that is needed. Share what might occur if the health care facility is forced to wait to receive the HIPAA protected information needed to begin treatment.

As a health care provider We have responsibility to perceive cause for drug overdose and what drug was taken by patient .

HIPAA provides the complete detail of patient prescription.

HIPAA does not provides any information about covered entity and have the security issue .HIPAA provides health information to the health care providers or doctors

According to that prescription We can provide intervention to patient for her early recovery .

If the health care facility is forced to wait HIPAA protected information :

If it is late ,the patient may go in to fatal .

The complications may increased and risk is very high if We delay the treatment .

The patient may go to anaphylactic shock and it may p

Lead to death if not treated early .
