Answer #1

1. 100 ml NS contains 100 units of insulin.

1 ml = 1 unit of insulin. So inorder to deliver 8 units of insulin per hour , we have to infuse 8ml per hour.

2. 125mg of morphine in 250ml of D5W

So 250ml = 125mg

1 ml = 0.5mg

We need to infuse 7mg/hr

1ml * 14 = 0.5mg * 14

14 ml = 7mg

Therefore we need to infuse 14ml per hour to infuse 7mg of morphine.

3. Intake and output :

I) Intake includes 3 cups of coffee.

1 cup coffee = 6 oz

3 cups coffee = 18 Oz ( 1 Oz = 30 ml ) ( 18 * 30 = 540 ml )

3 cups coffee = 540 ml

II) 4 Oz of juice = 120 ml

III) 2 cups of water = 16 oz( 1 cup water = 8 oz )

= 16 * 30

= 480ml

IV) 3 cups of tea

1 cup tea = 8oz

3 cups of tea = 24oz

= 24 * 30

= 720ml

V) 750 ml of IV fluid

Total intake = 540 + 120 +480 + 720 +750

= 2610 ml

VI) Output includes 2500ml of urine and 300ml of drainage.

So total output is 2500 + 300 = 2800 ml

Total output - total intake = 2800 - 2610

= 190 ml positive balance.
