Phage therapy is also called bacteriophage therapy. In phage therapy there is the use of bacteriophages to treat bacterial infections.

How phage therapy works:-

Bacteriophages or phages are viruses that invade bacterial cell and in the case of lytic phages , disrupt bacterial metabolism and causes the bacteria to destruct. Bacteriophages are only attacks bacteria and are harmless to people, animals and plants.

Importance of phage therapy:-

- Phage therapy is important because it use bacteriophages to treat bacterial infections and it could be used as an alternative to antibiotics when bacteria develop resistance.

- Phages can target dangerous microbes without harming human cells due to there specificity.
