Assessment

  • Identify causes of allergic response
  • Physical examination to notify bodily changes
  • Blood studies to detect cause.
  • Skin test. Identify wheel and flare skin
  • Vital signs.

Nursing intervention

  • Ensure patient airway
  • Monitoring vital signs continuously
  • Administration of high flow oxygen via non rebreather mask
  • Remove insect stinger if present.
  • Administer epinephrine as per doctor's order
  • Nebulizer with albuterol as per doctor's order
  • Diphenhydramine as per doctor's order
  • Identify hypotension
  • Anticipate intubation with severe respiratory distress
