New deal was a series of reforms taken by the US Government after the great depression to revitalise the economy. These reforms increased the regulatory power of the US federal government thus giving it more power to intervene in the economy and reinstate the shattered systems in banking, financial systems.
The new deal was brainschild of then US president Roosevelt. Along with increasing government spendings, government improved the social security measures, labor laws and increaed the protectionism policy for the crisis hurt poor strata of the society. Though some historians and economist view the origination of new deal measures as the culmination of political motives and a desire of Federal govenment to gain controls over the administration. However from the significance of these measures and the impact it has on US economy we can infer that reforms succeded to a great extent.
