Answer #1

The amount of fluid to be infused is 45 milliliter

Rate of infusion 25 gtt / minute

Drop factor given is = 15 gtts / millilitre

Time in which it has to be infused = ?

Drop factor gtts/ Volume in ml -X Time in minutes Flow rate = gtt/ minute minute

On putting values in above formula –

(45/ time in minutes) * 15 = 25 gtts per minutes

Time in minutes = 25*15) / 45

= 27 minutes

Hence at the rate of 25 gtt per minutes, it will take 27 minutes to infuse 45 ml IV solution with drop factor of 1 ml = 15 gtt.
