Is there more than one kind of sodium heparin used as an anticoagulant and for human injection ? If so which one works best as an anticoagulant ??

THIS IS THE ANSWER I GOT ....One kind of sodium heparin for human injection that is best is the one made by the recombinant DNA technology as it will be close to the human one and have less of immune rejection. Thus it should work best.

CAN ANYONE PLEASE ANSWER MY QUESTION SO I KNOW WHICH FORM OF SODIUM HEPARIN IS BEST ??? IT MAY BE AS SIMPLE AS JUST SODIUM HEPARIN.... THANK YOU SO MUCH !

Anticoagulants ( blood thinner) is a drug that treats, prevents and reduces the risk of blood clots breaking off and travelling to vital organs( heart, lungs and brain) of the body, which results in life threatening situations. Bleeding is the main side effects of anti-coagulant. There are different types of anticoagulants and they are classified into 4 by how they affect the normal coagulation pathway.

a) Vitamin K antagonists ( Warfarin -tablet form)

b) Low Molecular Weight Heparin and Heparin ( Enoxaparin - vials, heparin - syringes)

c) Thrombin Inhibitors ( usally present in powder, injection and capsule)

d) Factor Xa inhibitors (usually present in powder and injections)

LOW MOLECULAR WEIGHT HEPARIN (LMWH) AND HEPARIN:

1. LMWH polysaccharide chains have a low molecular weight than heparin

2.LMWH is made by fractionating heparin, but heparin is used as it is after extraction.

3. LMWH is given as a subcutaneous injection and painless whereas heparin is given as an intravenous injection and in high dose.

4. The risk of bleeding is low in LMWH but high in heparin

5. LMWH has low risk of osteoporosis than heparin when used for a long time.

LMWH has low side effects than heparin.

So, from my point of view, it is safer to use Low Molecular Weight Heparin than heparin injection. Both has same action in human beings.
