There are mainly 6 types of play characteristics in preschool childrens. They are as follows

1). Unoccupied play behaviour.

2) Onlooker play behaviour.

3) Solitary play behaviour.

4) Parellel Play Behaviour.

5) Associative Play Behaviour.

6) Co-operative Play Behaviour.

1). Unoccupied Play Behaviour:  In these play preschool child is not playing but keep busy with observing anything that happens tobe of momentary interest. He might play with his own body, get on and off tables and chairs, follows parent or adults or sits in one spot glancing around.

2) Onlooker Play Behaviour: In these the preschooler spend most of her time watching other children play. he talks to the children being observed a lot, asks questions or give suggestion, but does not overtly enter in to the play,

3) Solitary Play Behaviour: The characteristics of the play is the child plays alone with toys that are different from those used by the other children within speaking distance and makes no effort to get close to other children.

4) Parellel Play Behaviour: The preschooler plays independently but the choosen activity naturally brings him closer to other children. He plays next to them rather than with the other children.

5) Associative Play Behaviour: In these the child play with other children, they talk regarding the common activity. They try mild attempts to control which children may or maynot play in the group. In these play all the children engage in the similar activity.

6) Co-operative Play Behaviour: The child with these play behaviour plays in a agroup that is organized for the goal of making some product, striving to attain some goal, pretend paly or playing formal games.
