• Teach-Back Method

It is an effective method that helps in communication with a patient with low health literacy. It tells the patient to describe the application of teaching given to them. If they are not able to explain it well, reteach them giving different examples. This method makes sure whether they have understood the information clearly, increases attachment and divides the load of learning.

• Visual aids

​​​​​​​Pictures, videos, graphs,diagrams and teaching with models help them to understand better what is being communicated. Visual aids further accompany information getting them a clear picture of the materials poured out.

• Utilizing plain language

Plain, non-​​​​​​​ technical language is an important strategy that helps in communicating with a patient with low health literacy. Complex information should be broken down into simple pieces, important points should be communicated first explaining all the medical terms. This will help them to interpret what they require and utilize the things they get to achieve their goals.
