here , attributes are measured using nominal and ordinal scale

Attributes: A qualitative characteristics like sex , nationality, religion , grade in examination, blood group etc. are called attribute.

Nominal scale: Nominal scale consists of two or more named categories into which the object are classified.

for ex- 1) classification of individual using blood groups.

2) classification of individuals using sex,caste etc.

Remarks: In nominal scale if numbers are used ,then those are allotted in purely arbitrary manner . those number are just identification purpose used in place of labels.

Ordinal Scale : It gives the numbers to groups of objects using some quantifiable characteristics.

for ex- group of individuals according to income such as poor , middle, rich class

Variable: A quantitative characteristics like weight of person, examination marks, population of country is called as variable.

Variable are measured using interval scale and ratio scale.

Interval scale: Interval scale of measurement has equal units of measurement , however, the zero point is arbitrary.

ex- temperature measure in fahrenheight or centigrade in both scales zero is arbitrary.

Ratio scale: ratio scale of measurement has equal unite of measurement and those are taken from true zero.

ex- height (cm), weight(kg), time(hr) etc
