ANSWER :

Assessment of the extremity injury is important to rule out the musculo skeletal disorders and neurological deformities. To assess for an extremity two types of assessments are needed. They are 1. Subjective data 2. Objective data

1. Subjective data : In this the history is collected from the patient regarding

* Type of accident or injury

* Symptoms experienced by the patient like pain, swelling, bleeding, tenderness, dislocation of extremity, etc

* Previous history of injuries

* History of patient occupation

* History of intake of any drugs currently or previously for any injuries/ allergies

* Assess vital signs of the patient

* Assess for level and depth of injury

2. OBJECTIVE DATA : In this the information is collected by observations of patient, diagnostic tests, and by using of medical reports of patient.

* Collect information about investigation reports of patient

* Observe for the signs and symptoms of the described problem by patient

* Monitor the vital signs

* Analysis for the extremity injury and plan for treatment for the injury

* Assess for any specific problem to the problem like fracture, dislocation, etc
