Answer: Immunity is a condition where our body immune system protect from or insusceptible to a disease. It is a kind of protection against infectious disease. It also includes the body's ability to detect foreign material and eliminate foreign particle. Acquiring immunity to a pathogen is generally happens when we once get infected with a particular pathogen, our body produces antibodies against it. If we get infected again with the same pathogen, the white blood cells reproduce and destroy the pathogen.

The body fights pathogens by immunological mechanisms, many pathogens such as Mycobacterium leprae, the cause of leprosy that is the infected macrophages receiving cytokine signals from Th1 cells turn on special metabolic pathways. To kill the bacteria inside the macrophage, production of nitric oxide occurs naturally.
