Emergency department (ED) versus Intensive care unit(ICU)

In ED doctors make determination where patient is going to go..whether you they will get admitted or going to home .In ER we receive cares like trauma, injury and acute onset symptoms etc..They need emergency care with life threatening situation.ED nurses should see the Patient with cardiac arrest to stroke, accidents, fracture and wounds..it need immediate observation and acute assessment skills the symptoms should be treated immediately..

In ICU they treat patients with advanced technology who need the Highest acuity of care with different settings..nurses and doctors care their patients with special skills, ability, knowledge to find the pathology inorder to provide intervention which is needed for their critical condition..most of the Patient in ICU are intubated, ventilated and on continuous medication trips..centerilized supply center make facility and Hospitals get benefit with discount, free transportation, management costs,transaction and improved vendor relationships... electronic medical records and health information exchange make patient safety with Quality of care..environnent of ICU will be calm,well structured and multi-faceted..

ED nurses work is not detailed oriented, but ICU nurses work should be detailed enough to handle the Patient..

ED nurses don't have time interaction with patient and family.but ICU nurses make rapport communication with clients and families..

Home health care operated by skilled practioners to care patient in their home settings under the direction of particular physician..it includes physical care, occupational care, nursing care, medication etc..Home health care improved in national and local levels with advanced technology..elderly and disabled people need to be improved in physical function and ability..To avoid hospitalization and care at home with long term care.Nationwide Health Information Network ( NHIN) provides idea for diverse entities..The nurses Physician contact will be less to make assessment and communicate findings..EMR facilities make this in advance and it involves in patient safety and quality of outcomes..
