* 1. PURPOSE OF BONE MARROW ASPIRATION : Bone marrow aspiration is to be done to identify the disorders of blood cells or bone marrow

- To identify unknown causes or origin of fever

- To identify the levels of iron in the body

- In conditions like anemia, thrombocytopenia, polycythemia this procedure is used

2. PRE-PROCEDURE TEACHING TO CLIENT AND FAMILY IN BONE MARROW ASPIRATION :

Before the procedure start it is the responsibility of the nurses to educate the patient and family members regarding the purpose of the procedure, its complications or risks, importance of consent for doing of the procedure, benefits of the procedure to be explained and taught so that the procedure is made in a successful way.

3. While collecting the health information from the patient the nurse should collect the information on which hematological disorders patient is having. Based on that information it is easier to plan for further treatment action. Hematological disorders include sickle cell anemia, anemia, genetic rare blood disorders, etc, whether the patient is using treatment for any specific diseases, previous history of blood transfusions, allergies, infections, surgical history, any disease conditions information has to be collected.
