Code of ethics refers to the professional conduct expected by the professionals in the health care. The AHIMA code of ethics purposes is to promote high standards in health information management practice, establish ethical principles that guides professionals in decision making and actions, frames ethical principles to promote professional standard of practice.

The ethical principles are:

1. Represent the profession in a positive manner in the public. This creates trust on health professionals from the public.
