Ethical Considerations. You are preparing a presentation for your company’s investors, when discussing your forecasts of next year’s revenues and costs, should you use your most optimistic projections, your most pessimistic projections, or your most likely projections. Why?

For most purposes, the projection should be a realistic or most likely project because it gives the most probable and honest representation.
However in certain cases when the forecast can be conservative when there is uncertainty in future prices.

Sometimes the most optimistic projections can mislead the investors. These destroy the relationship between company and investor in the long term. As investors are for the long term, the trust must be maintained.
