1.The patient is having fluid volume deficit because of his decreased fluid intake as he takes just sips of water throughout his practice.

2.The lab results to be monitored are

• Serum electrolytes because there is alteration in the sodium,potassium, bicarbonate and chloride levels
• The BUN and creatine may increase because of overload to the kidney function
• pH to rule out acidosis or ketosis
• CBC will show increased hematocrit levels
• The osmolality of urine and blood

3.This could change the vital signs in the following ways

• Increased heart rate
• Increased respiratory rate
• Decreased blood pressure
• Increased body temperature can be expected because of fluid imbalance

4.The other assessment necessary are

• Physical examination:dry skin,flushed, skin turgor, sunken eyes
• Vital signs

• Urine output
