D-limonene + KMnO4 ---> ?? + MnO2
The major products which is obtained when D-limonene and hot potassium permanganate are reacted are 3-acetyl-6-oxoheptanoic acid and methanoic acid which further breaks to carbon dioxide and water
( I am assuming you are using hot conc. KMnO4)

Write a balanced chemical equation for the oxidation of 2-propanol by KMnO4 under neutral conditions to produce acetone and MnO2; oxidation of ethanol by KMnO4 under acidic conditions to give MnO2 and acetic acid (CH3COOH); and oxidation of methanol by KMnO4 under very acidic conditions to give Mn2+ and formic acid (HCOOH).
Calculate the fraction of limonene and the mass percent of limonene in the limonene water mixture that would steam distill at 97.4℃. The vapor pressure of water at 97.4℃ is 690 torr. Assume that the atmospheric pressure is 760. Would the percent limonene be greater, the same or less in the mixture that steam distilled at 99 ℃?
