1. Vulnerable population
Vulnerable population are those who are more or most likely to be exposed to the chance of being attacked or harmed, either physically or emotionally.
Native Americans are the residents of the United States who is not an Immigrant or an American Indian especially in the United States. They often recognised as the vulnerable population by the Government as they are more prone to poverty, communicable diseases and now the increased rate of life style diseases.
Genetic and hereditary structure make them more susceptible to illness. The innate and acquired immunity might be low in American Indians. In addition to that low socio-economic status, low education level led to the poor access of health care services by Native Americans. Small pox and tuberculosis were the terrible diseases that killed many Native Americans during last century.
In modern world Heart diseases are major threat to the Native Americans because of physical inactivity , obesity and Fat rich food consumption. Alcoholism and higher rates of Tobacco use among native Americans also one of the reason for poor health. Cancer also one of the major killing disease.
2. There are 27 free clinics. 9 are registered in VAFCC( Virginia Association of Free and Charitable Clinics) in Northern Virginia.
15 clinics are there in Northwestern region of Virginia.
Free clinics are the non profit, independent health care settings that offer medical, vision, dental, mental health services along with pharmacy services to economically disadvantaged population at a less or the nominal cost.
