Question

A capacitor is constructed of two metal rectangular plate with dimensions 30 cm by 48 cm. The plates have a plastic film between them that is 1 mm thick. The plastic has a dielectric constant of 1.8 and strength of 500 x106 V/m. It is charged with a 1s v battery. The charged capacitor is then discharged to a motor in order to lift a 34 g weight. In the unrealistic assumption that it is 100% efficient, how high will the weight go? im This is obviously not very useful. Which of the following increases would help the weight go to a higher height? distance between plates voltage Oarea of plates O mass dielectric strength dielectric constant If this capacitor as originally described could be charged with the maximum voltage before dielectric breakdown occurred, how high would the weight go? hmax
