At 90% confidence level

\alpha = 1 - 90%

\alpha =1 - 0.90 =0.10

\alpha/2 = 0.05

Z\alpha/2 = 1.645

sample size = n = (Z\alpha / 2 / E )2 * \hat p * (1 - \hat p )

= (1.645 / 0.03)2 * 0.5 * 0.5

= 751.67

sample size = n = 752

b)  \hat p = 0.08

1 - \hat p = 1 - 0.08 = 0.92

sample size = n = (Z\alpha / 2 / E )2 * \hat p * (1 - \hat p )

= (1.645 / 0.03)2 * 0.08 * 0.92

= 221.29

sample size = n = 222
