Gross Domestic Product or GDP includes the final goods and services produced in an economy during a year.

Production of services for self-consumption is not included in GDP.

So, the lawn I mowed in my yard is not included in GDP.

Sale and purchase of stocks and bonds are not counted as part of GDP.

So, the money I made from my stock market investments is not included in GDP.

Intermediate goods are not included in GDP.

Electronic components GM buys from Johnson Controls are intermediate goods, and, therefore, is not included in GDP.
