Answer #1

1) population for study:- Registered nurse midwives of United state.

2) sampling frame means a list of the items or people forming a population from which a sample is taken.

In this study sampling frame were Certified nurse midwives from the member list of the American College of Nurse-Midwives.

3) In this study probability sampling specifically random sampling technique were used.

strength of random sampling:

  • Sample represent the target population and eliminate sampling bias.
  • There is an equal chance of selection.
  • It requires less knowledge to complete the research.
  • Findings can be applied to the entire population base & Better chances that the sample represents the whole population

weakness of random sampling:

  • it is very difficult to achieve (i.e. time, effort and money).
  • It is a complex and time-consuming
  • Difficulty Accessing Lists of the Full Population.

4) 600 Certified Nurse Midwives from the member list of the American College of Nurse-Midwives was invited among which 243 completed survey.

Response rate also known as completion rate or return rate, is the number of people who answered the survey divided by the number of people in the sample. It is usually expressed in the form of a percentage.

In this study response rate can be calculated by dividing 243/600*100= 40.5%

5) For many years, a survey's response rate has been considered an important indicator of survey quality. Many observers presumed that higher response rates assure more accurate survey results.

Lack of response by potential respondents in a sample or population is referred to as nonresponse bias. Non response bias is deadly blow to both the reliability and validity of survey study findings. If a survey achieves only a 30% response rate, the study suffers from a nonresponse bias of 70%.
