The high of maternal mortality in developing countries shows that low standard care and poverty have a major impact on the MMR.In a twenty year survey at the king faisal university hospital in Saudi Arabia found that the leading cause of maternal deaths was due to haemorrhage in some patients while others have pulmonary embolism.Moreover,the study shows that around 12.5% of mothers died due to general anesthesia complications.

The risk factors noted were maternal age more than 35 years and gravida five with iron deficiency aneamia.The main avoidable factors were failure of the patients to get health care on time and to follow medical advice.Furthermore,hypertensive disorder and ruptured uterus are other reasons for maternal mortality in Saudi Arabia.

A three year of survey conducted in Saudi has found these epidemiological risk factors for maternal death.They also understood that uneducated and mothers from low class families were at high risk of maternal death.Especially more than seventh pregnancy were found to be at increased risk of maternal death.

The maternal death in Riyadh maternity and children hospital during the late seventies were 52 per 100,000 births,when the total birth were 55428.According to Gregoria's calendar Saudi conducted 35 months study on maternal mortality and the identified that there were 880,248 deliveries and 155 maternal death giving the ratio of 17.6 % in 100,000 births.The high number of deaths occurred among illiterate women (76%) and unskilled (67%) and mothers from economically poor families (38%)

SOLUTIONS To CONTROL:: increasing number of maternal death can be reduced by giving female education and community health care programs in every region.further reduction of death is possible through greater patient acceptance of medical advice,family spacing and proficient obstetretics services.Moreover,general improvement in socio-economic status,shifting from home delivery to hospital delivery,contraceptive practices and reduction in fertility rate also will aid to decrease MMR.Improving blood transfusion facility in peripheral hospitals to reduce maternal death due to haemorrage.
