I am having extreme difficulty with this online homework question. I keep getting the order wrong and I am on my 3rd and final attempt on the question. Any help will be appreciated.

Question: Place the steps for performing a routine venipuncture in the correct order (from 1 to 21).

Anchor vein.

Apply pressure to puncture site

Apply tourniquet

Cleanse venipuncture site

Cover venipuncture site with gauze

Check requisition

Engage the first tube

Explain the procedure to the patient

Identify the patient

Insert needle into the patient’s arm

Introduce yourself

Label tubes

Reapply tourniquet

Select tubes and prepare equipment

Release tourniquet first time

Release tourniquet second time

Remove needle

Remove collection tube and mix

Select venipuncture site

Thank the patient

Wash hands and put on gloves

  • clean hands.
  • introduce yourself
  • identify the patient by asking or checking the id.
  • check the requisition(anything special)
  • explain the procedure to the patient and take consent.
  • position the arm in a downward position.
  • apply tourniquet
  • select venipuncture site.
  • release tourniquet first time.
  • select tube and prepare equipment
  • wash hands and put on gloves.
  • cleanse venipuncture site
  • reapply tourniquet
  • anchor vein
  • insert the needle into the patient's arm.
  • engage the first tube
  • cover venipuncture site with gauze
  • apply pressure to the puncture site
  • release tourniquet second time
  • remove needle
  • remove the collection tube and mix
  • thank the patient
  • label specimen(tubes)
