a. The cumulative incidence of melanoma per 100,000 residents in NYC during 2007 is 6 cases, There are maybe old cases of melanoma but in 2007 there are 6 new cases found. so, the measure os disease is the cumulative incidence.

b.Person-time means, we are counting the amount of time the person was in risk. it is used to calculate the incidence rate.

as an example, we are following 10 people for a year and 2 people got sick in 2 months, so, they can tribute 2 months to the denominator.

The incidence rate of cancer per 100,000 person-month is 4.3
