Answer #1

The nurses and patient ratio determines the quality of patient care. Nowadays due to growing health care demands there is no adequate nurse practitioners to meet the growing patient needs.

Shortage of nurses leads to more errors, higher rate of moratality and morbidity rates in the health care. Due to lack of resources there is a higher patient to nurse ratio that results in increase burn out and less job satisfaction among nurses and results in increased nurse retention rates.

Putting forth all the above needs a request can be made to the Vice president to increase the staff ratio in the pediatric ward. The nurse manger can point out the rate of dissatisfaction among the family members ans their statement that the nurses are not aware of the pediatric cases and there is no continuity in patient care.

Nurses case delivery models states there should be 1:3 ratio between patients and the nurses to deliver the quality of care and to reduce health care professionals induce errors.
