Answer #1

Weight of the child= 13 kg

Daily iv fluid reqiurement =1000 ml + 50 ml/kg over 10 kg = 1000ml + (50 x 3) =1000+ 150 = 1150 ml

Prescribed dose=chloral hydrate 200 mg

Available dose =0.1 g/capsule =0.1 x 1000 /capsule =100 mg/capsule

Capsules needed = (200\div100)x1=2 capsules

Prescribed dose=12.5 mg promethazine IM

Available dose = 50 mg/ml

Amount of drug to be given =(Desired dose\divAvailable dose) x volume

=(12.5\div50) x 1 = 0.25 ml
