Find the percentage increase in income as (50000 - 40000)*100/40000 = 25%

Now income elasticity of demand is given by % change in Qd / % change in income

Here income elasticity of demand is 20% / 25% = 0.8

Hence income elasticity of demand is +0.8.

A positive value indicates that lobsters are normal good so that they are demanded more when income is increased.
