Answer #1

Atomic number of Ag is 47.

E.C of Ag : 1 s 2 , 2 s 2, 2 p 6 , 3 s 2, 3 p 6, 4 s 2, 3 d 10 , 4 p 6 , 4 d 10 , 5 s 1

Previous noble gas element in the periodic table is Kr with atomic number 36.

Hence, its condensed E.C is [Kr] 4 d 10 , 5 s 1

After loss of one electron Ag is converted into Ag + ion. Ag + contain 1 electron less than electrons present in Ag i e 46.

The valence shell is 5 and electron present in the 5 s sub shell will be lost , when Ag is ionized.

Therefore, we can write condensed E.C of Ag + ion as  [Kr] 4 d 10

ANSWER: condensed E.C of Ag + :  [Kr] 4 d 10
