(b) The assumptions for a 95% confidence interval are:

(i) The data must be sampled randomly.

(ii) The sample values must be independent of each other. This means that the occurrence of one event has no influence on the next event.

(iii) When the sample is drawn without replacement (usually the case), the sample size, n, should be no more than 10% of the population.

(iv) The sample size must be sufficiently large. In general, a sample size of 30 is considered sufficient.

Thus, the assumption is valid for the problem.
