Public health nursing focus on prevention of illness, promotion of health, curative service for the sick and rehabilitative service for the affected .public health addresses the psychological health, sexual and physiological health and environmental health; by which there is a holistic approach towards attainment of promotion of health.
Public' s awareness made as a focus towards promotion of health during 19th century , with the advancement in science , as the cause and effect about disease where studied. As the knowledge about different disease increased, means to tackle them where studied and further steps of promotion of health through public awareness where implemented.The aspect of public awareness include tge assessment knowledge level on a particular health topic and promote awareness about the same based on their knowledge or cognitive level and practice. The public awareness programme by the PHnurses was one of the best way to eradicate illness by an effective public health education.
The first comprehensive legislation to provide funding for nursing education was in 1964 by Nurse training Act.The act allocated a total of $283 million over a five year periond for expanding nursing educational programme, low interest student loan program , nursing school construction grant etc..
