The prospective cohort study refers to observing a group of people over a period of time with different factors. E.g.,study on diabetes in older people over 6 months with different dietary pattern (may be veg or non veg)

The retrospective cohort refers to the group are exposed to a common or single factor with another group who are not exposed to that particular factor.

Case-control study refers to two groups with difference in outcome

Case-crossover refers to the intermittent exposure in case of outcome
