With reference to UNCTAD, during the last decade,national,regional, and international initiatives aimed at promoting competition policy have proliferated .In particular of the around 300 bilateral and regional trade agreement in force or in negotiation ever ,100 include competition related provisions

Regional Trade Association is introduced due to several reasons

1) They boost trade , foreign investment and global value chain participation more than shallow agreement

2) Aspect of deep agreement are public goods .certain provisions of these agreements benefits all trading partners and help in expanded trade and improved policy environment

3) Regional trade association are currently at the center of many policy debates and are likely to shape trade and economic relations in the coming years
