The Similanity between them as they explain how they taught themselves to read and become literate 'due to a burning passion inside the both of them. Unlike many American students today their passion was not forced upon them. Both Writers lacked the typical schooling and literary encouragement that most children their age had recieved. They had no literary sponsors that encourage them along their journey, instead their Sponsors of literacy were seemingly debitating to many.
