Some of the ways that the WHO is addressing malaria in Central Africa include;

  • Vector control with the use of insecticides and other tools such as the insecticide-treated mosquito nets and indoor residual spraying.
  • Prevention through chemoprophylaxis, by suppressing the blood stage of malaria infections, to prevent malaria disease, this involves the administration of monthly courses of amodiaquine plus sulfadoxine-pyrimethamine to all children who are under 5 years of age in the season of high transmission.
  • Use of vaccines to prevent malaria.
