Yes , there are many issues confronting the juvenile justice system as a whole but from those issues , i will chose mental health as a especially problematic.
Mental health is psychological and emotional well being which influence our social behaviours. Each year , there are more than 10 million childrens , who formally comes into the juvenile justice system . Of those childrens 60 - 65% childrens need at least one diagnosable mental health and 30 - 35 % childrens have serious mental and emotional issues .These mental illness can arise from experience of trauma and abused and adverse life experiences and these mental illness is a predictor of criminal behavior , poor decisions and regrettable and unlawful actions . Juvenile Detection centers may escalate pre existing illness and experience of trauma , also problem of anxiety and mood swings are significantly higher in these juvenile offenders .
So we need to understand their trauma and mental conditions and also how to deal with it . We should train judges and other people how to deal with these childrens better . juvenile courts should aim to divert childrens from detection facilities and promote rehabilitative measures and we should also develop mental health services within parents , community and educational institutions
