Formula to calculate BMI= KG / M²

Where kg is weight and metre is height.

BMI= 61.2 KG / 1.7* 1.7.

As Alexa's weight is 65 kg during 1st trimester.

RDA = 65 kgs* 1.2 grams / kg body weight per day

RDA= 78.0 gms protein/ day in 1st trimester of pregnancy is needed.

Protein needs during non-pregnant state were 48 grams.

Protein needs during pregnancy stage for 78 grams.

To calculate the difference= 78- 48 = 30 grams extra protein is needed by Alexa during the first trimester of pregnancy.
