Cerebral Palsy : Cerebral Palsy is a disorder that affects the movement , muscle tone and posture of the baby. This is one of the neurological conditions which is caused by Brain damage, poor maternal conditions also maternal infections, Birth injuries, Premature birth of the baby.

Clinical Manifestations :

• Inhibition of movements
• Dystonia
• Delay in development of mile stones
• Hemiplegia
• Dysphagia
• Ataxia
• Chores
• Poor body posture

Priority Safety Concerns :

1. Never leave the child unattended

2. Always use a crib with side rails

Interventions : Immunize the child with vaccinations.

Rehab therapies such as speech therapy and also techniques to improve muscle strength.

Hydrocephalus : Hydrocephalus is the accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid in the meninges of the brain due to the excess production or either improper absorption of CSF. These are mainly due to infections, injuries, neural tube defects, premature birth etc.

Clinical Manifestations:

• Bulged organelles
• Head ache
• High pitched cry
• Irritability
• Blurred vision
• Enlargement of the head
• Sunset eyes
• Poor sucking

Priority Safety Concerns :

1. Avoiding infections

2. Taking measures to avoid injuries which leads to bleeding.

Interventions : Treatment of the baby with shunting process.
