Answer #1

Ordered dose 13 mcg/kg/hr.

Available drug Butorphanol (10 mg/ml)

The fluid rate will be 150 ml/hr, and the fluid bag contains 2L.

There is no age given so imagine Winnie’s age is 60yrs

a. dose is 13 mcg/kg/hr.

b. Dose per hour will be 780mcg

13mcg/kg x 60kg = 780mcg/hr

c. The fluid rate will be 150 ml/hr, and the fluid bag contains 2 L(2000ml).

so, total fluid will be administered in 13 hours 20 minutes.

d. Dose per hour is 780mcg

Dose per minute will be 13 mcg

780mcg + 60min = 13mcg/min

the total fluid will be administered in 13 hours 20 minutes (800min)

so, the total dose will be 10, 400 mcg (10.4 mg)

800min x 13mcg/min = 10, 400mcg (10.4 mg)

Butorphanol present in (10 mg/ml)

So, in round 1 ml of Butorphanol should be added to the bag.
