In Western societies, why is colorectal cancer the most common cancer, but yet there has been a decline in the incidence and mortality of cervical cancer over the last 40 years? Identify and discuss four nonspecific warning signs of cancer and which cancer the warning sign is linked to. Aaron is a 28-year-old who had an EBV infection during high school. He noticed one of his lymph nodes in his neck is swollen but is not painful. He is also experiencing night sweats. What is a possible diagnosis? Give some possible treatments for this diagnosis?

The nonspecific warning signs of cancer are

  1. Painless lumps ,nodules ,nipple discharge, pain are some warning signs linked to breast cancer
  2. Abnormal vaginal discharge ,bleeding or spotting in between periods is a warning sign linked to uterine cancer, cervical cancer
  3. Nagging cough ,hoarseness of voice ,blood in sputum or during cough is warning sign linked to lung cancer
  4. Persistent or changing headache ,nausea, vomiting,seizures ,confusion are some warning signs linked to brain tumor

The painless lympnode enlargement, night sweats and child EBV infection are some symptoms suggestive of Hodgkin's lymphoma.

The possible treatment for this are

  • Chemotherapy (starting chemo medication)
  • Radiotherapy (to destroy the cancer cells by radiation)
  • Stem cell transplantation.
