He presented with SOB, bruising diagonally across chest, tachypnea, uneven rise and fall of chest with breaths, and confusion when asked where he is at. He stated that he has sharp stabbing chest pain and is “having a hard time breathing”. During initial assessment nurse noted crepitus upon auscultation. His vitals were blood pressure of 108/61, pulse rate of 112, O2 sat: 84%, temp: 98.6, respiratory rate of 25. He was admitted to the hospital after a chest x-ray confirming fractured ribs with some noticeable loose segments of the chest wall.
