B12 binds to R protein in stomach in the presence of HCL juice.

Vitamin B12is bound to protein in food and is cleaved from protein by the hydrochloric acid produced by the gastric mucosa. Thereafter it is available for absorption.
Vitamin B12 is absorbed in the last part of the small intestine i.e. ileum
